Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland (JVSN) is a social organization which is devoted since 1999 persistently impressing, through educational programs, the national spirit and sense of belonging among the Naga tribes.
JVSN runs couple of primary and one secondary school in Nagaland. Zeliangrong Heraka School was established in 1983 with blessings of Padmashree Rani Ma Gaidinliu who was a freedom fighter and a strong–willed, impregnable personality having staunch trust in traditional inherited principles. She was a solitary figure in Nagaland who led Zeliangrong Nagas in particular and Naga tribes in general on the path of customary social, cultural and religious way of life. ZHS has assumed a prominent role in preserving and promoting the life mission of Rani Ma Gaidinliu. ZHS is one of the best schools in Peren district of Nagaland even though it is located in very remote corner of Peren district.
JVSN has been running 4 hostels in three districts of Nagaland. The hostel centers are in fact facility centers for the desiring students of financially poor families of remote villages to avail better educational facilities in town. The fee that is charged in both schools and hostels is bare minimum only to enhance the spirit of social service and not profit making.
JVSN in coordination with likeminded organisations in different cities of the country have made arrangements for school and higher education for students from Nagaland. Presently more than 200 students from 12 tribes of Nagaland are being benefitted by this initiative. More than 800 students have returned back to Nagaland after completing their studies and have joined government services in various capacities.
JVSN runs 35 Tuition Centers in 6 districts of Nagaland for the benefit of primary level students in 30 villages. The idea is to help students in villages for better understanding and liking for studies. More than 500 students are being benefitted by these centers.
