Urban Tribal Connect Program

In 1947, when the Britishers left India and our people took control of our nation, leading to the introduction of various development schemes for the tribal region. Over some time, these initiatives have spurred some progress, positively impacting our tribal communities.

There has been improved access to education, better employment opportunities, and essential services. While it is important to evaluate whether these resources are adequate for the comprehensive development of tribal areas, we must acknowledge that significant progress has been achieved.

Change is possible, and we can build on this foundation to create an even brighter future. As a result of these changes, many of our tribal members who have received substantial education now serve as government officials, while others have moved to cities to pursue various professions.

It is a misconception that all tribal people still live in forest areas; in fact, a significant number are now thriving in urban areas. We must actively work to ensure they do not lose their identity in the fast-paced urban life, which can be both dazzling and overwhelming. During our volunteers’ meetings, we emphasized the need to create a system to stay connected with these individuals in the cities, helping them navigate this new environment while preserving their roots.

Today, many tribal individuals from small villages migrate to cities in search of better healthcare and employment opportunities. Unfortunately, many of them feel lost and confused due to a lack of information about urban life. It is essential for those tribal members who have already established themselves in the city to step up and support their fellow tribespeople. At the same time, city dwellers should not lose touch with their roots; they must continue to contribute to the growth and development of their villages.

By guiding and empowering their rural counterparts, we can foster meaningful progress. It is essential to connect with the tribal community in urban areas and provide them with valuable education and resources for the collective advancement of their communities. The Urban Tribes Connect Program is gradually evolving to address the critical issues faced by tribal people living in cities.

Over time, dedicated volunteers began to engage with tribal communities who had migrated to urban areas. These urban volunteers have played a crucial role in driving progress, and their diverse experiences have proven to be invaluable. As our efforts have evolved, the significance of this initiative has gained organic attention. Each element of our comprehensive work plan is important, as each contributes uniquely to our cause. When we take the initiative, we can feel strong support from society. The key factor in our success is our commitment to sustained action and perseverance.
